The Campaign for Drawing has one aim: to get everyone drawing!
Why? Drawing helps us to think, invent and communicate – regardless of age and ability.
The Campaign for Drawing took its initial inspiration from the visionary Victorian artist and writer, John Ruskin.
Every October more than 1,500 venues, from village halls and nursery schools to national museums and castles, take part in the Campaign's annual
flagship event, The Big Draw. This annual month-long season spans art, science, design and the environment.
It connects generations and communities. Big Draw events show that drawing can be an enjoyable public activity as well as a private passion.
Every year the Campaign for Drawing issues themes to help you plan your Big Draw and maybe go on to win one of our Drawing Inspiration Awards. The 2010 Award categories remain the same as last year's, but we've simplified this year's themes by collecting a range of possibilities under one heading:
All Change! Changing places, architecture, habitats and habitation, fashion, climate change and its impact on the human condition, ecology, re-cycling, transformations, animation.
If you are thinking of running a Big Draw event for the first time you will find plenty of useful advice and resources on this website. Or for inspiration visit our sister site
www.campaignfordrawing.net, where you will find case studies of previous Big Draw events.
The Campaign runs a year-round professional development programme, Power Drawing, for teachers, other educators,
artists and those interested in developing drawing in schools, cultural and community venues. Power Drawing publications show how drawing supports formal and informal learning.
Three new Power Drawing courses just announced! Free Drawing: A Tool for Design sessions, investigating the role of drawing in design and construction, and its place in built environment education. The Happold Trust is generously sponsoring this programme.
