Welcome to the Power Drawing Newsletter – from the
professional development programme of the Campaign for Drawing. Specialist Schools and
Academies Trust Conference Eileen’s presentation Drawing: It Makes You Think! at
the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Conference at Kenilworth in
January prompted senior managers and teachers to consider how drawing
can support learning in a range of subjects across the
secondary school curriculum. Power Drawing courses Courses at Four Dwellings
School, Birmingham, Ninelands Primary School, Leeds, St Mary’s Primary School,
Great Dunmow and Frances Bardsley School, Romford focused on drawing
across the curriculum. Museum and gallery educators, teachers and community
workers discovered drawing techniques for interpretation and expression at Sunderland
Museum and Winter Gardens. At Urban Vision in Stoke-on-Trent artists, designers,
teachers and community workers explored drawing as a tool for
design. Drawing: A Tool for Design workshops We are pleased to be
working in partnership with the Architecture Centre Network to deliver
free workshops, supported by the Happold Trust, exploring the role
of drawing and creativity in design and construction, and its
place in built environment education. Workshop dates: 13 and 25

government’s Creativity, Culture and Education initiative has invited Power Drawing
to deliver courses for teachers and artists in ten areas
in England as part of its Find Your Talent project,
which offers children and young people involvement with arts and
culture. Starting in May, courses will run over nine months
and their basis will be the recently published: Power Drawing:
Active Learning and its sequel: Drawing: It Makes you Think.
